"Quantitative Imaging Measurements for Therapy Response Prediction"
I will present a mechanistic approach for mathematical modeling integration with image guided therapy and prediction of treatment outcome. Typical clinical data collection methodologies and outcome quantities of interest are considered for practical application. These data provide a structured database for model calibration and validation. Challenges and research opportunities for image normalization, segmentation, and registration methods needed as quantitative mathematical model inputs are discussed. An approach for identifying data that are information-rich with respect to physics based models of the data acquisition is presented. Motivating applications are to guide treatment decisions for magnetic resonance-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy of focal brain metastases and transarterial chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinomas.
