Mildebrath awarded for excellence in student support

Fourth-year graduate student has won the 2020 Graduate Teaching Assistant Award for Excellence in Student Support.

David Mildebrath, a fourth-year graduate student in computational and applied mathematics (CAAM) and a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow, has won the 2020 Graduate Teaching Assistant Award for Excellence in Student Support at Rice University.

The award recognizes graduate students who have “distinguished themselves in the support they provide to undergraduate students as teaching assistants (whether during class, recitations, or office hours).”

Mildebrath was recently awarded a 2019 Seth Bonder Scholarship for Applied Operations Research in Health Services by INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. His adviser is Andrew Schaefer, the Noah Harding Chair and Professor of CAAM.
