On November 5, 1999 The Rice Inversion Project (TRIP) recent held its annual project review. In attendance were fifteen guests representing six firms in the oil and seismic contracting industries which sponsor the project. Dr. William W. Symes and his students gave eight talks about their ongoing work, and enjoyed a lively discussion with their visitors. A novelty at this project review was a presentation by Rich Baraniuk of ECE, who directs the other geophysical research consortium at Rice, the Consortium for Computational Seismic Interpretation (CCSI). Dr. Symes proposed enhanced collaboration between TRIP and CCSI, and the proposal generated some interesting discussion. The 1999 Annual Report was distributed at the meeting. The Annual Report and the electronic presentations will be available on the web in December, after the standard sponsors-only period. The review meeting was open only to sponsor representatives. TRIP also has a weekly seminar, held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Duncan Hall 2014, which is announced on the TRIP web page and is open to all. 1999 CAAM News. |
