Andrew J. Schaefer


I am Noah Harding Chair and Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University.

I graduated with a double-major in Computational and Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University in 1994. I also received a Masters in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Rice in 1994. I received my PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2000. Prior to joining Rice in 2015 I was on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.

My research interests include stochastic integer programming, optimization in organ allocation, optimal cancer therapies, and healthcare systems.
