28 Jan: Concept paper - see materials on this topic on the
main page. Presentation to seminar.
1 Febr: file
petitions for MA candidacy, requires having a committee and a
topic. The committee must include at least three Rice regular faculty,
at least two from CAAM. Your advisor or monitor is a natural choice
for the chair of the committee, but others are possible. If the
committee is to continue to serve as a PhD committee, one member must
come from a department other than CAAM.
4 Mar:
Initial lit review complete, present summary to seminar using LaTeX slides, also turn in draft of lit review and any other completed work, with proposed outline structure ("Intro, Lit Review, Body1, Body2,..., Conclusion, Bib"). Bibliography and citations using bibtex.
18 Mar: initial thesis draft presented, to committees
1 April: first defense dry runs start
8 April: final drafts to committees; dry runs continue (extra time may be allocated for this!).
15 April: defenses start; dry runs continue.
29 April: last day of classes - final day for defense
