    The theoretical development and implementation of numerical methods for medical image processing, including methods for high-resolution three dimensional image registration, the inference of patient-specific biomechanical properties from anatomical images, radiotherapy dose-response modeling, the numerical solution of partial differential equations, large-scale problems in optimization, and scientific computing on graphics processing units (GPUs).
